Have you heard of Ikigai?

According to the Japanese, everyone has an ikigai (pronounced eek-ke-guy). An ikigai is essentially “a reason to get up in the morning”. A reason to enjoy life.

Simply put it’s:
Doing what you love to do (your passion)
Doing what you’re good at (your vocation)
Giving what the world needs (your mission)
And getting paid for it (your profession)

Your ikigai lies at the center of those interconnecting circles. If you are lacking in one area, you are missing out on your life’s potential. Not only that, but you are missing out on your chance to live a long and happy life.

Here is an activity you can do to help you:

Take a moment to think about your ideal life and how you will feel when you accomplish this. What words come to your mind? Don’t overthink it, let the words flow.

  1. Write down the words
  2. Keep these words around you and read them EVERY DAY

Change them if necessary until you get them right. Engage in business and opportunities that bring out these feelings. Limit your time with situations, people, environments, and opportunities that bring out the opposite of these feelings.

If you feel like you have lost your way throughout the year, refocus! Dedicate your energy and resources to tasks, people, and activities that light your life.
